THESE CAPS RUN A BIT SMALL

The first professional team owned and operated by a woman, Effa Manley. The 1946 edition of the Eagles won the Negro World Series. Featuring the double play combo of future Major Leaguers Larry Doby (2b) and Monte Irvin (ss), they upset the KC Monarchs in a 7-game series. They featured the great battery of Biz Mackey (C) and Leon Day (P). Other soaring Eagles included Hall fo Famer Ray Dandridge and future Dodger Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Cy Young winner Don Newcombe. This cap was worn by the 1946 champions.
